List of villages still controlled by Boko Haram terrorists

The people of Gwoza local government area of Borno state, a former caliphate of the Boko Haram militants, have punctured the claimed liberation of their area by the Nigerian military.

They said the whole local government is under the control of Boko Haram insurgents except the local government headquarters and Pulka, where the returning refugees from Cameroon and displaced persons brought back from Maiduguri and other areas are kept and protected by the military.

Speaking to Breeze Magazine on Gwoza indigenes who have vowed never to return to the horror that sacked the people of the local government, until a deliberate steps are taken to wipe out Boko Haram terrorists who are currently gathered behind the Mandara Mountains.

Suleiman Nasir, an IDP at the Bakassi Camp in Maiduguri said many of their villages are still being controlled by the Boko Haram, adding that this has made a lot of them reluctant about going back home.

“I am from Ngolollo, my village is still under the control of Boko Haram fighters. I cannot go back home”, he said.

According to him, places like Kunde village, Zalidva, Gava2, Kughum, Hadawa and Hadakaya villages, are all being controlled by Boko Haram militants contrary to claims of liberation.

“They are the authorities in all these villages. Whatever is the problem of the people, they are the ones that would judge cases, settle dispute and give sentences.

“Those who went to the village and ran back said they no longer kill unnecessarily as they did before. They only execute people who refused to abide by instructions or fail to do certain task given to them, or those they suspect take information to the military either in Pulka or in Gwoza town”, he added.
